"It was like stepping back in time at Alte Herrlichkeit. This historic half-timbered house from the 18th century tells the story of Monschau's rich past as a cloth town. We learned about the beautiful facade that it was once the subject of a unique renovation against the mayor's wishes. Not much else has changed; we were truly able to enjoy authentic Eifel hospitality in the heart of the old town."

"An early tea with two young ones, we were welcomed and seated within a minute. The host allowed me to practice my German and made a very good suggestion for the children as the portion sizes are plentiful. The HAXE was very good!! A fantastic view of the river and surroundings all round a great German experience and we would recommend it to others."

"We were welcomed by a very nice and polite waitress. The atmosphere... the delicious food... the view of the river... it all made our visit magic!!! Don't miss out tasting the unique and delicious Senfsuppe (mustard soup) they serve there!!!!!!Mmmmmmm simply leckerrrrrr!!!!!!!!! Would love to go back again!!!!!!!!"
